Give a Gift that will be Matched AND Lasts Forever: The Colonel Ruby Linn Endowment
The Ruby W. & Lavon P. Linn Foundation contributed $250,000 to VLS in 2016 to establish the Colonel Ruby Linn Endowment Fund. The Fund is in honor of the service of Col. Linn, a female World War II veteran known for her over 20 years of military service and her philanthropy. The Linn Foundation also presented VLS with a challenge: if VLS raised an additional $250,000 toward the Endowment by June 2017 (including pledges for up to five years) the Linn Foundation will match that and contribute another $250,000 toward the Endowment. By the June 30, 2017 deadline, VLS had raised approximately $165,000 of the $250,000 goal. Ultimately, the Linn Foundation matched $165,000, bringing VLS to an approximately $580,000 endowment. The Foundation also offered to extend the challenge so that VLS may seek to raise the remaining $85,000 by June 30, 2018, which would also be matched dollar-for-dollar, bringing VLS to an approximately $750,000 endowment. Donate today for double the impact!
Gifts to the Endowment will be held in perpetuity and invested in accordance with VLS’s Investment Policy. Proceeds from the fund will ensure that Veterans Legal Services is here to meet the needs of veterans in all eras to come.
Donate online today, or by mailing a check with Endowment in the memo to Veterans Legal Services, P.O. Box 8457, Boston, MA 02114. Don’t forget: if your employer has a matching program, your gift can be matched twice! To make a multi-year pledge, please contact Sarah Roxburgh at Sarah@veteranslegalservices.org or 857-317-4474.
Anyone can be a Patriot: Respond to the Robert Kraft Challenge!
In 2015, Robert K. Kraft contributed an unsolicited $100,000 grant to Veterans Legal Services.
“As I’ve learned more about Veterans Legal Services, I’ve been impressed with their unwavering dedication and ability to provide expert legal counsel to veterans who are facing challenging and complex legal issues. I’ve learned that legal problems are often what stand between our veterans being in a stable place with a home, family and job, versus being homeless and alone. Simply put… Veterans Legal Services is changing veterans’ lives through their unrelenting efforts.”
–Robert K. Kraft
This grant comes with a challenge: $50,000 for 2015-2016; $50,000 for 2016-2017 if VLS is able to raise a matching $50,000 for each year. VLS has met this challenge for FYE August 2016. But we need your help to raise $50,000 toward this challenge for 2016-2017. Respond to the Kraft challenge today!
